Why it is Important to Read The News Before You React

Did you read the executive order this morning from President Trump on the tariffs with Mexico and Canada? If you did not, you’re not alone. I was watching an interview on one of the business channels and the lady being interviewed was just about in tears, just about to have breakdown as she stated these tariffs will kill transportation, agriculture, manufacturing, and the world will stop as we know it. It was honestly pathetic. Clearly, she did not read it. If you did not read it, well it says we want to work on two things: Fentanyl and illegal immigration. Not a trade war. Fentanyl killed more people in 2024 than all the deaths combined in the Vietnam war. Let that sink in. 

They asked what you should be buying with the trade war, and there was silence. All I could think was “buy anything!” because this is a big overreaction. In case you were wondering, we did buy this morning.

As time marched on, or about 45 minutes, Mexico came to the table and President Trump put a 30-day hold on everything to try and work it out. Lo and behold, the markets stabilized.
